Precision motion for heavy film-camera payloads, with almost net zero sound.
This project centred on developing an accurate, repeatable driven-system architecture that could integrate into an existing premium camera-support product. It needed to handle heavy film-camera payloads while producing almost no sound—a demanding combination that made the engineering especially interesting.
Film equipment is fairly unforgiving: movement needs to be deliberate and repeatable, yet the equipment itself should almost disappear from the recording environment. We turned the required motion, payload and acoustic performance into clear engineering criteria, then developed and compared possible architectures, completed the supporting mechanical and motion calculations and coordinated specialist supplier input.
We explored several directions rather than locking onto the first workable answer, comparing each against accuracy, payload capacity, acoustic performance, packaging, integration and cost.
The work gave the client a credible, physically prototyped platform for continued integration and development. It has not been released to market. The proprietary architecture, detailed requirements and implementation remain confidential under an NDA.
