Bluelab pH Pen Plus was developed as the successor to the established pH Pen, adding a replaceable pH and temperature probe so users could restore sensing performance without replacing the whole instrument.

The challenge was to rework the product architecture without giving away the compact form, waterproof performance, usability or manufacturability people already expected. I led the cross-functional product delivery team while staying hands-on with concept development, detailed mechanical design, prototyping, DFM, lifecycle and compliance testing.

One of the most valuable parts of the project took me well beyond the CAD screen. I travelled independently to India for the first production run of a critical component, worked through root causes directly with the supplier, improved the process and verified the required quality at the source.

pH Pen Plus has been successfully launched as a serviceable handheld instrument, with a verified supplier process and key manufacturing risks resolved before they became production problems.
